Sew Happy

I love sewing. The process of cutting up bits of fabric and putting them back together seems completely insane to some (aka, my husband) but I really can’t think of anything I would rather do with my spare time. I love fabric, I love trying out new techniques and colour combinations, most of all I love the sense of accomplishment when I finish something. Being a mother is such a thankless task, there’s no end point where you can sit back and say that you did okay, sewing gives me that feeling I crave of a job well done.

Of course, if housework gave me that feeling I would probably be richer and my house would be far cleaner, but that’s an ongoing task as well, which is why I avoid it to the best of my ability.

I really like that purple fabric. I wish I could get back into sewing but I haven’t done any for a month or so, I don’t mind the sewing itself, it’s just the measuring and cutting which I don’t like and also the fact that I’m incredibly impatient doesn’t help either!

As someone who almost failed Home Ec (we had to make an apron, and I just didn’t see the point), I have developed intense admiration for peeople who can sew, especially since I’ve had kids and been stunned at how expensive their clothes are. I have a friend who can sew – thank God! – and she makes Max little trousers and shorts and shirts. Saves us a bundle of cash… and the stuff is really cute.

You have my undying admiration! And that lion material is adorable. Also?? The bunnies in that earlier post are really sweet… and I am thinking about you this Easter.

Well I had to hit the housework hard this week, we have the real estate through twice, once for a valuation and once for an inspection… the upside is that the spare room is now tidy and there’s room to put my sewing machine out on the desk…… the only thing stopping me….. not knowing how to do too much more than sew a straight line… LOL
